Hanan goes on hunger strike because the Interior Ministry failed to protect her from her husband
The day before yesterday Hanan Subhi Mahmoud, 33, started an open-ended hunger strike from inside the Quwesna District Hospital in Menoufiya after the Mansha Abu Zikri police failed to protect her from her husband and his attempts to forcibly eject her and her five children from their home.
“I started a hunger strike so that my pleas would reach Gen. Habib al-Adli, the interior minister,” Hanan said. “The Quwesna police ignored the four police reports I filed against my husband. He has been trying to kick me out of the house after he signed the house over to his mother.”
