Family in Daqahliya accuses officer of arresting 18-month-old infant

تمييز ضد الأطفال.jpgA man filed a complaint with the director of Daqahliya security accusing a police officer of arresting his infant child and detaining him at the station for five hours.

The father, Ashraf Ashour Ashour, said in his complaint that he is from Dimshalt, in the Dakarnas district. Officer Mohammed Safwat raided his home with several detectives and pointed their weapons at his brother. They then arrested Hussein, aged 18 months, and took him to the station.

Sahar Mahmoud Ali al-Adl, the boy’s mother, said that the officer and the detectives were after her brother-in-law, who is wanted in a case. “They didn’t find him there, so they asked us, ‘Whose kid is this?’ We told him that he was the wanted man’s nephew, then the officer abducted him and quickly left with his detectives, paying no mind to our screams and cries,” she said. “We were running after them, but they threatened to arrest and falsely charge us, and their hearts weren’t even moved by the child’s cries at the station.”
