Qatari student killed after racist attack in London

The British police announced on Tuesday that a Qatari youth, age 16, who was taking a language class in Britain, died after an attack in Hastings, located in southern England, which they described as “racist.” Mohammed al-Majed was assaulted after an argument with young Britons in Hastings.

Eyewitnesses say that the assailants, who were apparently drunk, beat the boy, who sustained a serious head injury as a result. He was taken to a London hospital where he died on Saturday night according to the Sussex police.

A preliminary investigation found that the student died as a result of the beating, but an autopsy found that the cause of death was a concussion sustained when he fell to the ground, according to police. On Tuesday morning the police questioned an 18-year old in connection with the incident. They also detained three other young men, ages 17, 18, and 20, and later released them.

The police said that Mohammed al-Majed had been in Hastings for five weeks studying in a language program that ended this weekend.
