Couple imprisoned after they offer to allow con artist to rape their daughter-in-law in exchange for a hidden treasure
The police of Sidi Salem, located in Kafr al-Sheikh, charge a man and his wife with offering their daughter-in-law to a con artist; he was allowed to rape the woman if in return he would extract the cash and antiquities that the couple claimed was inside their home in a village in Sidi Salem. The suspects were arrested and transferred to the prosecutor’s office, where they were jailed pending an investigation.
The chief of the Sidi Salem station received a notice from the victim, a 27-year-old housewife, who said that she had been raped by a con artist working in collusion with her in-laws. She was taken to the hospital for several injuries, including one to her middle ear. An investigation was immediately launched and found that the con artist, A., convinced the man, M.M., and his wife, A.A., that their home contained relics worth millions of pounds in addition to American dollars.
The couple believed the charlatan’s claims and gave him money to buy incense and other trappings of sorcery. After he had gained control of them, he asked them to give him their daughter-in-law in exchange for the treasure. The couple asked her to respond to the con artist’s wishes, but she adamantly refused, after which they grabbed her by force and the con artist raped her in front of them. She then filed a police complaint about the incident.
