Mohammed Nagi Ghuneim accused the chief of investigations at the Damietta police station, Tamer Nabil Abu Youssef, his deputy Mahmoud Ali al-Basyouni, and two detectives of beating him and his father and abusing them on the street in front of their home, located in Ard al-Barsh in the Damietta district. Ghuneim said in a complaint to the Damietta prosecutor’s office (no. 920/2008) that while his father was sitting in front of his workshop, located in his home, on November 4, officer Mahmoud al-Basyouni and some ten policemen asked him to come with them in a microbus. Finding no convincing reason to do so, he refused, at which point they began beating him.

Iraqi security sources said Wednesday that gunmen broke into the home of a Christian family in Mosul, the biggest city in the Nineveh province, killed two sisters, and injured their mother. An officer in the Iraqi police who refused to give his name said, “At about 8 pm, gunmen broke into the home of a Christian family in the al-Qahira area (central Mosul) and shot at the family, killing two sisters and injuring their mother.”
